NIGHTINGALE publishing house in Poland issued the Arabic Translation of “Moments”, the poetry collection of the polish poetess Alicja Kuberska. The collection is translated by the Syrian poetess and translator Shurouk Hammoud, from English into Arabic.
Alicja Kuberska is a Polish poetess with a rare gift. Not only does she write poetry that has deep emotional resonance. Her poems are sometimes sad and sometimes whimsical, but they always leave an abiding impression on the reader who connects with her words which glimpse into a moment, or a thought we ourselves have known.
The collection consists of one hundred and seven poems, most of them are flashy moments, similar to flashes experienced by the poetess. It fluctuates between subjective, philosophical and descriptive as if the poetess reflects the external and eternal worlds of things and creatures alike and exits them once in the form of a slap in the face of the world and once in the form of suffocating crying.
The poetess won the Excellence Award in 2014 and the medal of an Italian poetry competition in 2015. She won a medal from the European Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters in France in 2018. Her poems are published in international magazines.
Shurouk Hammoud is a Syrian poetess, editor and literary translator. She has three published poetry collections in Arabic and two published poetry collection in English. She has also won many local and international creativity awards.
